My favorite character is Caliban. He is very intelligent, which you can see by the way he speaks and how he was able to learn language. I think he could be considered foolish since he makes bad decisions, like how he tried to rape Miranda. Most importantly, he is misunderstood and a victim. None of the characters treat him with respect even though all he wanted was to live his life his own way. Caliban is my favorite character because he's so animalistic and simple. Also, I feel bad for him since he was raised by a witch and doesn't have any morals because of it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character from "The Tempest" is Caliban. He is very misunderstood and a victim. He isn't respected by any of the others and is also Prospero's slave, being controlled constantly. Just because he was raised by a witch, people automatically believe that he is evil as well, not giving him any chance to prove himself different. But, he is also intelligent, being able to learn their language and speak it well. He could also be considered foolish, making bad decisions like trying to rape Miranda to populate the island with Calibans. He is also kind of rebellious, not wanting to be controlled by Prospero and his intimidation. He may be very mean at times but I feel as though he only acts this way because he doesn't know how to act any different. Even though he is seen as a gross monster, Caliban is still a very nice character.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character in "The Tempest" is Prospero. His life, out of everyone's on the island, is the easiest. He can life carefree and without worry. He has a twisted mind, in that he doesn't want anyone on the island to die, but he wants to torture them for the rest of their lives, which he wants to drag on and on. His character is actually very smart. Also, he carries through on his plans, which is admirable. I also like how he spends his time doing what he wants to do.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character from "The Tempest" is Ariel. He (or she), is very loyal to his master, Prospero. This is shown when he carries out numerous dreadful deeds throughout the play. These tasks include the destruction of a ship full of enemies of Prospero. Although Ariel is loyal in every way to Prospero, he is at times impatient with him, asking for freedom from time to time. Ariel is my favorite character because he in a way reminds me of myself. He is loyal and trustworthy, but at times can be found to be persistent and impatient.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is most likely Caliban. There is only one of his kind on the island and he plays a very well character in "The Tempest". I feel bad for Caliban, Prospero uses him as a slave and he is taken advantage of, just because he is the only one of his kind. Prospero thinks he can use him for anything. Caliban is also extremely intelligent, he can survive on his own on the island and when he plotted to kill Prospero he wanted to destroys his books first, which was Prospero's source of knowledge, and without him he would be nothing. Caliban also wants to be free and do his own thing. He can be foolish at times but it's not entirely his fault. When he tried to rape Miranda he didn't know better, in his environment he is supposed to reproduce and Caliban thought it was the right thing to do. He is also the son of a witch, who wasn't as nice as himself, and sometimes it's hard to convince people you are different from your parents, but I think Caliban is a lot different from his mother. Caliban is nice, intelligent, bright and he does his own thing, which makes him my favorite character.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Caliban. He is very different, yet he is self assured. Caliban at times is foolish, this shows when he tries to rape Miranda to populate the island. On the other hand, he is very intelligent because he learns the language and speaks it. Caliban is very much disrespected and he realizes this by the way people make fun of him. He does not want to be ruled by the harsh and vulgar Prospero so he decides to honor Stephano instead. Caliban is very driven and certain of what he wants and that is why he is my favorite character.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character from “The Tempest” would have to be Caliban. Caliban is a very entertaining character and always seems to have something funny to say. He is misunderstood and one can’t help but feel bad for him. In the play he is looked at as evil but however honestly is just a victim. He makes the acts more interesting, like the drunken scene could have been boring if he wasn’t there. Caliban at times is quite foolish; he doesn’t really think things through before he acts, like his attempt to rape Miranda. However he is very intelligent, he is able to learn how to speak very easily. Caliban is my favorite character because you don’t know what to expect from him, it’s always a shock. As well he is one of a kind; there is no other character in this play like him. One can’t help but smile at some of the things he says.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character from "The Tempest" is Caliban. He is very misunderstood and I believe he is a victim. Caliban was raised by a witch. He has no sense of right or wrong. Caliban makes bad decisions and can be quite foolish. He didn't know exactly what he was doing when he tried to rape Miranda. No one takes the time to try to help Caliban or hear him out. If someone tried to explain right from wrong to him he may make better decisions. He has the capability of being very intelligent. I find Caliban to be a very interesting character. He is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteIn "The Tempest" my favorite character is Caliban. He is simplistic but very intelligent. I feel bad for Caliban because he was born of a witch and did not have a proper childhood. He was then taken in by Prospero and is treated as a slave because he foolishly tried to rape Miranda and populate the island with more Calibans. Caliban is very funny in "The Tempest" but makes foolish decisions. My favorite part he was in was when he said he would worship Stephano as a god. I think he is misunderstood and is treated badly because of it. Caliban is the most entertaining character in "The Tempest".
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a favorite character, but if I had to choose, it'd be Stephano. His constant drunkenness makes him the funniest character in the play. He is fun, carefree, but also ambitious - once Caliban lays out the plans for him. The fact that he road to shore on a butt of wine shows that he cares more about his alcohol than anything else. He doesn't have much trust - even in his close friends - as seen when he believes Trinculo is trying to stop him from following Caliban's plan. Slapping Trinculo and thinking of killing Prospero show that he is violent, too. All in all, he is the comic relief of the play, and I always love the more ridiculous characters.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite character in The Tempest is Prospero. After his brother Antonio stole Prospero's throne, he aches for revenge against Antonio and his friends. Prospero is a magician and can perform spells that manipulate the world around him. He uses his magic to worm his way back into the royal family, showing his intelligence and cunning. However, he does have a soft spot: his daughter, Miranda. For example, when Miranda and Feridand get engaged, Prospero is happy for them. Prospero uses his skills to get what he wants, but doesn't lose his morals in the process.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character in "The Tempest" is Ariel. He is very loyal to Prospero even though he is a slave. Most slaves would try and lash out or plot a murder of thier master. But, Ariel just does as he is told with no argument. He is very helpful to Prospero in fulfilling his orders without a problem. Without Ariel many of Prosperos orders could not have been carried out by just Caliban. Ariel holds everything together calmly and presicely.
